This unit is located at the Headquarters Building at 140 N Marietta
Parkway. The supervisor of this unit is a Lieutenant who reports
directly to the Special Projects Commander. The Central Records
Unit supports the Police Department, the judicial system, other law
enforcement agencies, and the public. This support is provided by
the maintenance of all files, records, and documents submitted to the
Records Unit for processing, retention, and storage.
The Central Records Unit is responsible for disseminating
accident reports
and incidents reports to the public and other authorized individuals.
This unit also transfers the information from the officer's field reports
into a computer retrieval system.
The National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Georgia Crime Information
Center (GCIC) computer system is maintained and operated by this unit.

Property and Evidence Unit
This unit is located in the basement of the 911 Center on North Marietta
Parkway. The supervisor of this unit is a civilian who reports
directly to the Lieutenant of the Central Records Unit. The
Property and Evidence Unit is responsible for the storage and return
of property recovered by the Police Department. This unit is
responsible for the handling, storage, processing, and disposition of all
evidence.
This unit also operates the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS)
for the Police Department.
Crime Analysis Unit
This unit is located at the Headquarters Building on North Marietta
Parkway. This unit reports directly to the Lieutenant of the Central
Records Unit. Their mission will be to provide current Crime and
Traffic Analysis for the Department. They will generate periodic
status reports as well as reports on request.
Permits Unit
The Permits Unit is located in the Headquarters Complex on North Marietta
Parkway. This unit is supervised by a Sergeant and reports directly
to the Special Projects Commander. The
Permits Unit is
responsible for licensing and enforcement in any activity regulated by
Cobb County Ordinances, e.g. alcohol beverage sales, wrecker services,
taxi services, etc.
Community Education Office (Crime Prevention)
The Community Education Office is located in the Headquarters Complex on
North Marietta Parkway. Personnel of the Community Education Office
are sworn officers who report to the Special Projects Commander. The
Community Education Office conducts crime prevention
seminars and training, and coordinates similar activities conducted by the
precincts and special unit.
