The Detective Bureau consists of the Crimes Against Persons, Crimes Against Property, Marietta/Cobb/Smyrna Organized Crime Unit, and Special Projects.  The activities of this bureau are managed by the Deputy Chief. 

Crimes Against Persons  is under the command of two Majors that report to the Deputy Chief.  These units are responsible for the investigation of all crimes against individuals.  Four separate units make up this division:
 

Homicide Unit
Robbery Unit
Domestic Violence/Stalking Unit
Crimes Against Children Unit
 

Crimes Against Property is under the command of a Major and reports to the Deputy Chief.  This unit is responsible for the investigation of all crimes against property.  Within Crimes Against Property are four separate units:
 

Criminal Investigation Units (each precinct)
Auto Theft Unit
Pawn Enforcement Unit
High Tech Crime Squad
 

Marietta/Cobb/Smyrna Organized Crime Unit is under the command of a Major and reports to the Chief's Office.  This unit is responsible for the investigation of all white collar crimes and narcotics offenses.  Within this unit are two separate units:


Intelligence Unit
Narcotics Unit

Special Projects is under the command of a Major and reports to the Deputy Chief.  The Special Projects Commander is responsible for budget and grants administration, planning and research, policy development and revision, and certification management for the Department, as well as any special projects initiated at the request of the Chief or Deputy Chiefs of Police.  The Special Projects Commander is also responsible for the following four units:

Central Records Unit
Property and Evidence Unit
Animal Control Unit
Crime Analysis Unit

The Adjutant Office is under the command of a Lieutenant and reports to the Deputy Chief.  He maintains written equipment specifications for the Department, and assists in the coordination of the purchase, installation, and repair of all specialized equipment.  He is also responsible for the following four units:


Permits Unit
Community Education Office (Crime Prevention)
Public Information Office (PIO)
